AudioQuest’s Mythical Horses, Black Beauty and Pegasus, extend the proven benefits of ZERO-Tech to a broader audience. Much like the Mythical Creatures series (ThunderBird, FireBird, and Dragon), Black Beauty and Pegasus offer evident sonic advantages with simplified construction. Unlike the multiple constructions of the upper Mythicals, Black Beauty and Pegasus package all the ZERO-Tech innovations into single round cables. Pegasus, like Black Beauty, features Direction-Controlled Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors, Carbon/Graphene Mesh-Network, Copper-Plated Plug Casings, and Hanging-Silver over Red-Copper plugs. Additionally, Pegasus enhances distortion reduction and RF noise dissipation by increasing the silver content of its RF Drain-Wires. The RCA version of Pegasus utilizes a single 72v DBS pack, while the XLR version employs a Dual-DBS pack to maintain ZERO-Tech system integrity.

The only way to avoid characteristic-impedance mismatch-effects between a cable and its attached source and load circuits is to prevent the cable from having a characteristic-impedance. ZERO-Tech succeeds by eliminating the electrostatic field between the cable’s high and low signal conductors, enabling linear (consistent octave to octave) Radio-Frequency (RF) Noise-Dissipation, and uncompressed transients. POLYPROPYLENE AIR-TUBES

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit and will absorb energy, some of which is stored and then released as distortion. For designs that require minimal diameter, AudioQuest uses Polypropylene Air-Tube Insulation. Because air absorbs next to no energy and Polypropylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile, Polypropylene Air-Tube Insulation, with its high air content, causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.
